Kylie duets with Coldplay on stage

Kylie helped Coldplay sex up their gig in Australia when she joined them on stage for their encore.

The Kiss Me Once singer was the surprise guest as the band did an encore of two songs - Where The Wild Roses Grow, her duet with Nick Cave, and Can't Get You Out Of My Head.

The Australian pop princess sang along as frontman Chris Martin played the piano, in front of 2,400 fans who attended the gig at Sydney's Enmore Theatre.

"Thank you for the magic @coldplay. Such an honour to be onstage with you tonight!!" Kylie tweeted afterwards.

The band's former manager, considered an unofficial 'fifth member', Phil Harvey, added: "Kylie just took the roof off the enmore: where the wild roses grow x can't get you out of my head. Pop royalty in the house."

Kylie's appearance came at the end of Coldplay's only concert in Australia to promote their latest album, Ghost Stories, which has topped the iTunes chart in more than 100 countries worldwide and is already certified platinum status in the UK.

Earlier in the week, the British group took to the streets of Sydney to record the video for their current single, A Sky Full Of Stars, with director Mat Whitecross and hundreds of fans who responded to a call on Twitter.

They later posted the finished video with the message: " Thank you Sydney, that was amazing. And here's the new A Sky Full Of Stars video that you made with us."
