Lavigne: Wedding will be unique

Avril Lavigne is busy planning her big day with Chad Kroeger

Avril Lavigne has revealed she has had a hand in preparing her second wedding because she wants it to be "extraordinary".

The Canadian singer has enlisted the help of a wedding planner for her upcoming nuptials with rocker Chad Kroeger, but is also intent on putting her own mark on the ceremony.

"I have a wedding planner but I want to do something quite extraordinary and unique, and make it very special so there's a lot that goes on with planning a wedding," she told E! News.

She joked that her diamond sparkler is now her "favourite accessory", adding: "It's crazy, I'm really excited. I got engaged in August, so between planning the wedding and the new single, there's lots going on."

Avril and the Nickelback frontman started dating when they met to co-write her new single, Here's To Never Growing Up, and they announced their engagement in August.

"Chad and I met in the studio, and that's how we all started. We were friends and we were goofing off, being silly and just having a really good time. We have a lot of fun together. He's a really good songwriter and I've learned a lot from him," she explained.

The 28-year-old also revealed that she never got to go to a prom - until she shot the music video for the song.

"That was way more fun than I anticipated. It's the first prom I ever attended, so I did it right. I got my crown on," she said. "I'm pretty impressed with the set. It looks really cool. The director thought of the concept, which was prom, and I thought that was pretty neat because we can all dress up and the band can wear tuxedos."

Avril was previously married to Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley.

Here's To Never Growing Up is released in the UK on June 16.
