'Lucky' Wanted fan gets Jay's hair

The Wanted's Jay McGuiness before he shaved off half his hair

The Wanted's Jay McGuiness has shaved one side of his head - and bandmate Max George has given his hair clippings away to a fan.

The boyband singer - who usually has a head of long curly hair - showed off his punky new under-cut at the SD2 Festival in Brighton at the weekend, where Max threw locks of Jay's hair into the crowd, wrapped up in a sock.

Fan @Soph_thfc - who claims on her Instagram account "boybands complete me" - tweeted a picture of herself holding the sock full of locks and wrote "I HAVE THE SOCK AND JAYS HAIR".

The Wanted tweeted her back telling her: "Take good care of it!"

Jay's new look wasn't a hit with all Wanted fans, with one commenting on Twitter: "Jay looks like someone from Mortal Combat," to which the band replied: "That may be the look he's going for."
