Madonna watches Lourdes on stage

Lourdes is apparently following in Madonna's footsteps

Madonna's daughter Lourdes showed she had picked up some tips from her famous mum as she starred in a school production of Grease.

The 17-year-old played Pink Lady Betty Rizzo in the play at LaGuardia Performing Arts High School in New York, and dazzled the audience - which included the Queen of Pop - with her acting and singing abilities.

According to the Daily Mirror, Lourdes was cheered throughout the show as she sang songs including Look At Me, I'm Sandra Dee and There Are Worse Things I Could Do.

The teenager apparently impressed critics with her performance, with the New York Daily News saying she had " comic chops and confidence on stage".

And an audience member told Us Weekly: "[She was] really good. She is a great singer, dancer and actress and seemed completely comfortable on the stage. She also seemed like she was having a lot of fun with the part."

The show gave Madonna something to celebrate following reports she has split from her boyfriend Brahim Zaibat.

The 55-year-old singer had been dating the 25-year-old dancer for three years but they have called time on their romance because of their busy work schedules, reported PerezHilton.com.

It seems they decided to split after Brahim signed up for the French version of US show Dancing With The Stars.
