Malone reveals choir wish list

Choirmaster Gareth Malone

Choirmaster Gareth Malone would like the Duchess of Cambridge and One Direction star Niall Horan to join one of his choirs.

Gareth, who was behind the chart-topping Military Wives, said he would also like to add Beyonce to the line-up - but would turn down pop star Katy Perry.

Speaking to The Sunday Mirror's Notebook magazine, he said: "I'd really like the Duchess of Cambridge to be in one of my choirs - I suspect a girl with her education can probably sing.

"And if she can't then her parents should ask for their money back..."

Asked who he would choose from the world of pop, Gareth said: "Niall from One Direction. He seems like the friendly face of the band so he'd be nice to have in the choir and good at keeping the tenors in order.

"Can I have Beyonce? She's quite fierce but an acceptable singer - very flexible vocally and physically.

"I don't think I'll have Katy Perry - she won't hit the high notes with any great force."

Gareth is to be honoured at the annual Silver Clef Awards, alongside figures such as Pharrell Williams and Paloma Faith.

He is to receive the Classical Award at the fundraising event, which benefits the Nordoff Robbins music therapy charity.

The choirmaster is about to tour for the first time with his latest ensemble, Gareth Malone's Voices.
