McCartney helps out with proposal

Sir Paul McCartney has helped two of his fans get engaged on the comeback night of his tour.

Macca had taken five weeks off after a serious virus left him in hospital, but he returned to the stage in Albany, New York, for his Out There tour and made a couple's night by orchestrating their engagement.

The former Beatle spotted fan Claudia Rodgers in the audience who was holding a sign that read: "He won't marry me til he meets you," while her partner John Dann held another sign saying: "I've got the ring and I'm 64."

Sir Paul invited the pair up on stage and spoke to them for a while before letting John take over - who belted out Beatles hit When I'm 64 as he knelt down to pop the question.

Claudia said yes and the newly engaged couple left the stage to cheers from the rest of the crowd.

Sir Paul later tweeted how happy he was at returning to the tour: "Albany! What an incredible night -Thank you!"
