Mick Fleetwood has confirmed that former bandmate Christine McVie will be returning to the group on a permanent basis.

Drummer Mick announced to the crowd at Uncle Willie K's BBQ Blues Festival in Maui: "This is the worst-kept secret there is, but Christine McVie will be rejoining Fleetwood Mac," according to Digital Spy.

Christine has not been a full-time member of the group for 16 years, but did reunite with them last year for two London shows on their European tour.

She later told The Guardian: "If they were to ask me I would probably be very delighted, but it hasn't happened so we'll have to wait and see."

Christine has not confirmed the news herself yet, but the band's publicist Liz Rosenberg told Billboard that she "has indeed re-joined Fleetwood Mac and we are hoping to make an announcement about a possible tour for the full tilt Macsters some time in 2014."

Another of the group's members, John McVie, is currently in treatment for cancer which was diagnosed last year and led to the band cancelling their Australia and New Zealand tour dates.
