Melanie Chisholm has hinted the Spice Girls may reunite in 2016

Melanie Chisholm has revealed the Spice Girls are planning some kind of reunion - but not until 2016.

Mel B previously said the band were planning a reunion to mark their 20th anniversary this year, but Mel C, aka Sporty Spice, has said they are now holding out for the 20th anniversary of the release of their debut single.

Mel C - who is the ambassador for P&G and Asda's Clean Water campaign - said: " It's funny isn't it because people are saying it's the 20 year anniversary of The Spice Girls, and we did get together in '94, but Wannabe wasn't released until '96 so we don't really see it until '96.

"And you might see a few of us having a little dance about on stage, no plans, but we'll see what we can do for you."

The 40-year-old singer and mum to five-year-old daughter Scarlett also told how she travelled to Ghana to see clean water campaign in action.

She said: "The statistics are shocking, over 2,000 children are dying a day because they don't have access to clean water and over a billion people in the world don't have access to clean water. So something like this is changing saving lives.

"P&G have devised these tiny little sachets for water purification.

"When I was there I was taken by some of the local girls, they were about 12 or 13, we went down to the local water source, and we brought back these huge containers. They weighed a tonne! And these girls just pop them on their head and walk back to the village, it was incredible.

"The wateris murky and dirty, goodness knows what's in there. This water could make you very ill and in some cases kill you.

"They add the sachet, give it a good mix and filter the water and 30 minutes later the water is clear and clean and drinkable.

"And I know - I drank it. I was a bit nervous but it's amazing, tasteless and a lot safer than anything they've had in the past."

::When you buy any P&G product in Asda or on, P&G will donate one day of clean drinking water. Visit to find out more.
