MGMT are baffled by the Jedward phenomenon, calling them "kooky".
The Brooklyn-based band have been surprised with all the hype surrounding the X Factor twins, John and Edward Grimes.
"I didn't even know who Jedward was until about a week ago in Dublin - I saw a TV show called OMG It's Jedward, I watched that and I enjoyed it," said founding member Andrew VanWyngarden.
"I was like 'Wow'. This is one of those crazy phenomenons that's really unique in this part of the world because no one knows who Jedward really are in the United States. I thought it was kind of ridiculous - they seemed like really kooky guys," he added.
The band later met Jedward at a party in Dublin, where they struck up an unlikely friendship and are even considering performing Kids together.
"It was really strange," Andrew added.
In an interview with NME, he said: "They're big fans of Kids and they want to do it with us. As we're American we don't know how people will perceive it. They remind me of ourselves when we were young, back when we were doing the whole karaoke thing at college."
