Nadine Coyle keeps on smiling despite chart flop

Girls Aloud Northern Ireland beauty Nadine Coyle put on a brave face last night despite an abysmal start to her solo career.

The 25-year-old was in Belfast to be crowned Most Glamorous Female at the IN! Magazine Glamour Awards.

Looking stunning in a dress by local designer Una Rodden, the Derry star seemed unfazed by meagre first week sales of single Insatiable.

When asked about the debut single, which sold only 117 hard copies on its first day of release, she said: “Insatiable is going really, really well.”

The Northern Ireland singer released the song under her own record label and is selling it exclusively through Tesco.

Referring to her deal with the supermarket giant, she said: “I am so happy that everyone has embraced the different way of doing things, because this is totally different from the established way of doing things. I am very pleased with how open everyone has been.”

The dismal sales have been dwarfed by Coyle’s Girls Aloud bandmate Cheryl Cole’s Promise This single.

Coyle’s brave face continued when she was asked about any rivalry between her and Cole.

Squirming, she said: “Catch yourself on.”

With the awkward questions over, Coyle said she was delighted to be back in Ulster.

“I am so happy to be back home. Although it is raining I felt so light and bright to be back here.”

Other winners on the night included Darren Clarke and Alison Campbell as Most Glamorous Couple and Graeme McDowell as Ambassador of the Year.
