Natasha Hamilton has landed a stage role - as a lesbian performance artist in Rent.

The Atomic Kitten will star in the 20th anniversary tour of the smash-hit Tony Award winning Broadway musical.

Natasha, who is taking the role previously played by Nicole Scherzinger and Denise Van Outen, said: "I love Rent so I am made up to be playing the role of Maureen! She's a great character... a little bit cheeky, flirtatious and injects some real comedy moments into the show."

Rory Taylor, who was runner-up in Andrew Lloyd Webber's ITV contest Superstar, is reprising his role as Roger.

A film of the Rent musical, which is set in the East Village of New York City, was released in 2005 starring original Broadway cast members Idina Menzel and Adam Pascal.

The show last toured the UK in April this year. It is back with 15 dates in Blackpool, Nottingham, Oxford, Edinburgh, Dublin and Newcastle before closing in Liverpool on November 30.

Natasha recently reunited with her Atomic Kitten bandmates in ITV2 show The Big Reunion.

Skipping special occasions and failing to return phone calls causes resentment. You have to be more engaged to sustain loving bonds. Call someone you've missed. It may take a few tries, but it's worth the effort. Be forthright about why you have been out of touch. Communication is the cornerstone of every healthy relationship.More
