A*M*E still can't believe she has reached number one in the UK
A*M*E still can't believe she has reached number one in the UK

A*M*E has revealed she is still pinching herself after getting her UK number one.

The 18-year-old singer, who is originally from Sierra Leone, hit the top spot with Duke Dumont with their track, Need U (100%), over the weekend, toppling Ant and Dec with their revived hit Let's Get Ready To Rhumble.

"It's so crazy! I still can't begin to believe it!" she said.

A*M*E, whose real name is Aminata 'Amy' Kabba, is in Los Angeles writing and recording for her album, which is set to be released later this year.

The BBC Sound Of 2013-nominated songstress, who was previously signed by Gary Barlow to his Future Records label, said the Take That star and X Factor judge has passed on some tips.

"The most important advice he has given me is just be true to myself and keep doing what I'm doing. It's really easy to get sidetracked and to lose your point of focus when you first start in the industry. So I've been staying true to myself and keeping it youthful," she said.
