Olly Murs inspired by Eminem rap

Olly Murs was inspired by an Eminem track

Olly Murs has revealed a surprising inspiration for his latest single Dear Darlin' - Eminem.

Singer Olly told 4Music his idea for the song came from the rapper's 2000 hit single Stan, about an obsessive fan who kills himself by driving into a lake taking his girlfriend, locked in the car's boot, with him.

Olly's Dear Darlin' - currently at number six in the UK singles chart - takes the less controversial form of a love letter.

He said: "I always remembered the idea of Marshall Mathers and Eminem when he did 'Stan' - he was writing a letter. That was one of the ideas we had for this song. We said, 'The song should be called Dear Darlin' and it should be the start of writing a letter, that would be so cool'."

The Right Place, Right Time artist said he hoped his song would show his fans social media is not the only way to express feelings.

He said: "This song was kind of a way of showing people that you don't have to text or tweet or Facebook. The old-school way of doing things is writing letters and I used to write letters to my girlfriends."

You'll have to make an emotional appeal to your boss. Unless things change, you might have to find another job. You're a very tolerant person, but you can't handle toxic behaviour. A colleague who takes great pleasure in making everyone feel miserable should be reprimanded. Make it clear you aren't the only person who is suffering from their abuse. Explain how this bully is ruining morale. It's a system wide problem that needs to be nipped in the bud.More
