One Direction set for royal show

One Direction will join the Royal Variety Performance line-up

One Direction are to sing for the Queen after being added to the bill for the Royal Variety Performance.

The chart-topping boy band join performers such as Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue and Girls Aloud at the event, hosted by David Walliams.

One Direction, who conquered the US this year, will perform their forthcoming single Little Things which was written by Ed Sheeran.

The Queen will be accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh for the 100th anniversary of the event at the Royal Albert Hall on November 19.

Also in the line-up are Rod Stewart, Neil Diamond and Alicia Keys, with the performance to be screened by ITV1 in December.

The performance will raise funds for the Entertainment Artistes' Benevolent Fund, helping to maintain its retirement and nursing home in Twickenham, south-west London.
