One Direction's Liam Payne has revealed that he would still like to be friends with ex-girlfriend Danielle Peazer.
The singer, who was reported to have split from the dancer last month, admitted that he only went for a drink with Leona Lewis and would never hurt his ex.
"Danielle is great. I really hope we can still be friends," he told The Sun.
Liam also revealed how he almost gave up his singing career after performing at The Sunshine Festival in Rhyl, where he was booked to stand in for Blue singer Lee Ryan.
"Me and my dad travelled from Wolverhampton. I played for ten people for £50. That had to be my worst gig - that was the last straw," he recalled.
"I was like, 'I'm not doing this any more Dad, I don't want to.' After that gig in Rhyl, I nearly gave up because it was just embarrassing."
The 19-year-old said he's the father figure of the group: "I try to keep an eye out for everyone. The only person I really worry about is Zayn, because I don't think he's accustomed to all of this. He's had a terrible time on Twitter, as did Danielle.
"He's my best mate. I've got to look out for him," he added.
