Will.i.am is preparing to kick off a UK tour

Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am has admitted he's nervous about embarking on his first ever solo UK tour.

The producer and TV talent show judge, 38, launches the tour in Manchester in December.

"All this time in music and this is the first tour I've done by myself. I'm nervous and it's going to be emotional," he said.

"In a group like Black Eyed Peas, people show up to see us and I share that experience with the rest of the people in the band. This time people are paying money to come and see me perform.

"I'm not opening up for anyone, it's not a festival where I'm sharing the stage or arena with other people, so for me this is very emotional."

Will, who has collaborated with Cheryl Cole, Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Britney Spears and Snoop Dogg, promised there'll be some surprises at the concerts, adding: "It'll be unique, let's leave it at that."

Asked why it has taken him until now to do a solo tour, the star, who's produced for everyone from Michael Jackson to Mariah Carey, added: "I never saw the need. I just wanted to tour with the Peas."
