Perry planning a career break?

Katy Perry is rumoured to be putting her career on hold, so she can "let her heart heal".

The US singer plans to slow things down on the work front, following the breakdown of her marriage to funnyman Russell Brand, reported the Daily Mirror.

In footage from her new documentary film, Katy Perry: Part Of Me, the 27-year-old will be shown curled up and crying, before saying: "I need to let my heart heal."

Katy, who described the situation as "the elephant in the room", said she has no regrets about including a clip where she realised her relationship with Russell was over.

"The truth will always prevail. Everything has to be handled with integrity and appropriately, and it's not nice to air all your dirty laundry, because that stinks, so I had to be very delicate with the situation, but I couldn't avoid the elephant in the room," she explained to MTV.com.

"If you were to have seen that movie and walked out and it wasn't at all mentioned like it never happened, you'd be like, 'Eh, this is weird, what is she trying to hide?' I don't like to hide."

Katy and Russell split last year after 14 months of marriage.

Katy Perry: Part Of Me opens in cinemas on July 5.
