Reports suggest that the notoriously private singer is now working on a new album.
He is rumoured to be behind the Twitter account 3rd Eye Girl, which has been revealing clips of unreleased songs.
Earlier this month it was announced that Prince would be honoured at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards.
The awards take place in Las Vegas on May 19 and will see the Purple Rain star honoured with the Icon Award during a live ABC broadcast from the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
