R Kelly has been rushed to hospital for emergency throat surgery - but promised he "will be back".
The singer's publicist said that doctors drained an abscess on one of his tonsils on Tuesday, and that he will be "laid up indefinitely" at Chicago's Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
But R Kelly - whose real name is Robert - tweeted that he would return to top form soon, writing: "I'd like to thank everybody for their love, concern and support. I WILL BE BACK!"
He added: "I refuse to take another cup of Theraflu! I feel like my throat is coming back. I've been in bed sweating like crazy. Thanks guys!"
The spokesman for the I Believe I Can Fly star said he had been complaining of throat pain recently and was rushed to hospital after a throat exam.
