Reunited Stone Roses plan Irish gig

The Stone Roses have announced a comeback tour

Seminal indie rockers The Stone Roses have announced their reunion — and vowed to play their new material in Ireland.

Band members had long dismissed talk of ever getting back together after a bitter falling apart in 1996.

But yesterday they announced home town shows at Manchester's Heaton Park next summer.

The hugely influential Nineties band said that Ireland would then be their next port of call.

“After Manchester, Ireland is always next on our list,” said singer Ian Brown, although he didn't have any detail on where the gig will be.

However, a band source said last night the Irish gig is likely to be a one-day event, such as Slane Castle or Marlay Park, rather than a festival such as Oxegen.
