Rihanna has revealed she would have auditioned for The X Factor as a struggling singer.
The We Found Love star made the admission as she appeared on the US version of the show, as LA Reid's guest mentor during the judges' homes stage of the competition.
"Six years ago before I was signed, if it was The X Factor that had come first, I definitely would have entered to have a chance at fulfilling my dream. With this show, it's all so exciting, and it's like a party!" she said.
Rihanna, who was helping her own "mentor" whittle down his eight acts in the boys category, didn't shy away from being honest, describing LA as "a pain in the a**".
"I don't know who's more competitive between LA and Simon. They are both very stubborn individuals," said the 23-year-old, who got signed to LA's DefJam label after impressing him.
"Simon is very raw - let's put it that way - with the way that he approaches critique. But it's very honest. You have to listen to everything he says, no matter how nasty it might sound. I know what it's like to audition for LA. He can definitely be a pain in the a** as well."
She added: "I have to say, he will find a way to make you feel you might have a second chance on a nice day but he rarely gives second chances. You have to really impress him in a short time."
Pharrell Williams, Mariah Carey and Enrique Iglesias are also rumoured to be guest judges, pairing up with Nicole Scherzinger, Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul.
