Rock star spreads love with freebie

Ginger Wildheart's fan-funded album landed a spot in the mid-week top 10.

A British rock star who gave away his most treasured guitar to a fan hopes to spread the love on Valentine's Day with his latest freebie.

Singer-songwriter Ginger Wildheart has decided to get into the spirit of February 14 by giving away the song Black Valentine for free.

The track is taken from the debut release of his new pop rock project Hey! Hello! and offers a different take on what is billed as the romantic day of the year.

He said: "Black Valentine is that person in your life who doesn't understand personal space, and turns intimacy into an endurance test.

"They're a new person in your life who is still on trial, and not doing a great job so far, but you give them a second chance, and a third. Hell, you're lonely, what else ya gonna do?"

The first LP by Hey! Hello!, which also features New York vocalist Victoria Liedtke, is in keeping with Ginger's maverick and independent way of releasing music.

His fan-funded album 555% hit the headlines last year after it out-sold the likes of Coldplay and Rihanna and then went on to win Event Of The Year at the Classic Rock Awards in November.

And 12 months previously Ginger, who originally hails from South Shields, Tyneside, stunned bandmates after giving his treasured Les Paul guitar away in a charity auction - which was later snapped up by a dedicated fan for more than £17,000.

As well as an upcoming support slot with The Darkness, his other band The Wildhearts head out on the road for a series of live shows - which will see them play their 1993 album Earth Vs in full.

Black Valentine is available to download for free from Hey! Hello!'s page - http://heyhellomusic.bandcamp.com/track/black-valentine.

Don't confuse love with lust. Having a physical relationship with someone isn't an indication of emotional commitment. If you're with someone who doesn't want to spend time with you outside the bedroom, move on to greener pastures. It's sometimes difficult to face the truth of a situation like this. When in doubt, talk to a trusted friend. They'll give you an honest assessment of this bond. A relative may ask to come to their rescue. Fortunately, you have the necessary resources to bail them out.More
