Seaside switch for Proms in the Park

Proms in the Park - the BBC's annual live music extravaganza - is moving to Bangor.

After several years in the grounds of Hillsborough Castle, Beeb bosses have opted instead for the surroundings of Castle Park in the North Down town.

And the magic of telly technology will connect Bangor to simultaneous concerts at Caerphilly, Dundee and the Last Night of the Proms in London.

While the artists - apart from the Ulster Orchestra - have yet to be announced, the public is being invited to apply for free tickets.

The event on Saturday, September 10, is again presented by Noel Thompson and Claire McCollum.

Tickets are allocated on the basis of a draw but are limited to four per household and applications - online at bbc.co.uk/tickets, by telephone on 0370 901 1227 and textphone on 0370 903 0304 - must be made before 5pm on Friday, June 17.
