Shania laughs off awards show trip

Shania Twain said she'd only hurt her thumb in the fall

Shania Twain has laughed off what she describes as one of "life's most embarrassing moments" after taking a tumble at an awards show..

The country star fell onto the floor while approaching the stage in high heels to present Blake Shelton with a gong at the CMT Music Awards in Nashville.

Afterwards, she joked about the accident on Twitter, posting a video message where she told her fans: "I just made a complete fool of myself and experienced one of life's most embarrassing moments."

The 45-year-old Don't Impress Me Much singer said: "I lived through that".

She said: "I didn't hurt myself. I have a bit of a sore thumb but that's about it."

Canadian star Shania blamed her high heels, saying: "I'm gonna auction off those shoes. I'm gonna get rid of them as soon as I can. I never want to see those shoes again or maybe I should keep them as a souvenir."

Shania Twain's stumble was edited out of TV replays to save her from more embarrassment.

John Hamlin, the show's executive producer, said the last thing the channel wanted to do was embarrass anyone, particularly someone as gracious as Shania.
