Sheeran responds to Noel's slur

Ed Sheeran has hit back at Noel Gallagher's put down about his upcoming run of sell-out shows at Wembley.

The outspoken High Flying Birds frontman appeared to diss Ed when he told NME magazine in reference to the upcoming gigs: "I don't think I can live in a world where that's even possible. When you hear that kind of polished pop and then there's a ginger guy with a guitar it seems subversive, but it's not."

But cheery Ed quipped back: "I can live in it, it's really enjoyable."

The 23-year-old is due to play the three sell-out gigs at the London Arena in July.

Former Oasis star Noel complained that indie music was being pushed out of the current pop scene.

He said: "It's not all over, but it'll go back to the way it was in the early 80s where indie bands are the alternative thing, the lower level.

"In the early 80s everyone at indie labels, even major labels, were trying to push this music to the fore because everything else was s***, and maybe it'll happen again, but I don't see it for the next decade."
