Shows to be rescheduled after death

Radiohead are to reschedule several shows following a tragic stage collapse which led to a drum technician's death

Radiohead plans to reschedule nine shows after a stage collapsed, killing a British drum technician.

Scott Johnson, 33, was crushed while setting up for a concert in Toronto, Canada.

A spokesman said the band was still dealing with the shock and thanked fans for their consideration amid efforts to rearrange forthcoming performances.

The collapse, which injured a further three crew members, destroyed Radiohead's light show.

"This show was unique and will take many weeks to replace," the spokesman said.

"The collapse also caused serious damage to our backline, some elements of which are decades old and therefore hard to replace. Whilst we all are dealing with the grief and shock ensuing from this terrible accident there are also many practical considerations to deal with."

The band has promised it will try to reschedule shows in Italy, Germany and Switzerland.

Radiohead, from Oxfordshire, had been due to play to a sold-out crowd at Downsview Park when the top portion of the stage collapsed in on workers at the weekend.

Mr Johnson, from Doncaster in Yorkshire, was later found trapped under the rubble.

Canadian authorities have launched an investigation into his death.

Someone will steal credit for your work, which is maddening. Drawing attention to the problem will only make you look petty. You're better off accepting the situation with quiet dignity and grace. Move on to the next assignment, but make sure to sign your name to every piece of work that is submitted. Tell your boss what you are doing on a regular basis. You'll sound like a pest, but at least it's better than getting stabbed in the back.More
