Smith pens tribute to Winehouse

Patti Smith penned the track from a poem she had written

Patti Smith has written a song about the late Amy Winehouse, she has revealed.

The punk icon based the track on a poem she had written about the London-based soul singer after her unexpected and tragic death at the age of 27, last July.

"We wrote a very nice little song for Amy Winehouse... The little song for Amy just blossomed in the studio," she told Uncut.

"We were at Electric Lady [studio] doing a whole other song and I wrote Amy a little poem when she died and my bass player, Tony Shanahan, wrote a piece of music and the two matched perfectly."

Patti - who is set to adapt her best-selling book Just Kids for the big screen - insisted that the song will be featured on her upcoming new album.

You feel optimistic and for good reason. An admirer has been trying to win your heart. All this attention is flattering. If you're single, keep playing hard to get. The more you resist, the more they'll persist. Are you already in a relationship? Start pursuing a cherished dream. Fulfilling your heart's desire will make you a better partner and friend. Dwelling on what might have been will just make you bitter. Take a risk. It's better to try and fail than be paralysed by fear.More
