Snow Patrol to play second show as gig sells out

Snow Patrol are to play a second show at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast next year after their original date sold out within 15 minutes this morning. The Northern Irish band will now play Friday, March 20 as well as Thursday, March 19.

The shows will mark the end of the band’s tour of the UK and Ireland, which kicks off in Bournemouth at the start of February.

From early today, hundreds of fans queued outside the Odyssey Arena box office and Zavvi store in Royal Avenue while phone and internet lines were jammed with eager buyers.

A spokesman for Zavvi said interest in the show was huge and that fans had braved the cold weather from 7am.

The Odyssey’s Rob Vick said the show was one of the fastest selling in the venue’s history.

“We expected it to sell out, but didn’t realise it would sell as quickly as it did. The act which holds the record for the fastest selling show ever at the Odyssey is Bruce Springsteen, which sold out in eight minutes flat.”
