Snow Patrol are gearing up for a return to the charts with a new single release in October.

Take Back The City — which be released in the UK on October 13. The single comes with a new video shot in east London by acclaimed director Alex Courtes (who made the White Stripes Seven Nation Army).

It’s the first single to be released by the band since Signal Fire went to number four in the UK charts in May 2007 — the Northern Irish group’s biggest hit to date.

Over the past year the five-piece have been in the recording studios in Ireland and Germany working on their fifth album — the follow-up to the chart-topping Eyes Open. It was produced by Garret ‘Jacknife’ Lee.

The new album — which will be released on October 27 — is entitled A Hundred Million Suns, as revealed by the Belfast Telegraph last month.

Take Back The City is the first single to be taken from the album and is expected to give the band another top 10 hit.

Speaking about the new album Gary wrote on the band’s website: “I’m so proud of this record. Everybody played out of their skins.

“Garret continued his progression from maverick genius to one of the best producers in the world. Musically, lyrically and sonically, it’s the best record we’ve made.”

Snow Patrol’s last album, Eyes Open, was a huge commercial success both in the UK and the US.

It became the best selling album of 2006 and went platinum in the States.

Drummer Jonny Quinn told the Telegraph the band hoped to perform a few intimate shows back in Nor thern Ireland before playing a major concert here next year.
