Star-studded new year for celebs

A host of celebrities saw in the new year with music gigs, television appearances and swanky parties in far-flung destinations.

One Direction were in the US with a prime-time performance on ABC's Rockin' Eve event, along with Elton John, while Queen played to a packed house at Westminster's Great Hall.

Liam Payne said: " Happy new yearrrrrr everyone thank you so much once again the best year of my life so far what will next year bring x"

Fresh from the gig at Central Hall, Westminster, broadcast live on BBC One, Queen guitarist Brian May tweeted: "You guys gave us it all !!! Thanks - Westminster Hall - a very Good Night to you all - Bri."

Television presenter Caroline Flack, out partying with her agent, tweeted: " Wild night out with in Jamaica with @louteasdale 'I can't drink till I've eaten food' HAPPY NEW YEAR X"

Strictly star Judy Murray said: " Zuma Restaurant. Prosecco. Gr8 food. Fireworks on waterfront. Andy + Rafa. New Year in Abu Dhabi. Whats not to love??"

And her tennis star son Andy tweeted: "Happy new year from Abu Dhabi! Wishing everyone good health and happiness!"

This year's X Factor winner Ben Haenow appeared to be spending New Year's Eve with the family and told his Twitter followers: " HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL! thank you for making my 2014 the best year ever!! See you in 2015!!!"
