Swift bags a country music gong

Taylor Swift has picked up a country music award

Taylor Swift has won a special off-camera Academy Of Country Music Award.

The singer-songwriter won the Jim Reeves International Award for spreading an appreciation of country music around the world.

Awards host Reba McEntire is this year's career achievement winner, while Garth Brooks won the Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award with the Larry Gatlin and The Gatlin Brothers. The award honours pioneers in the genre.

The awards were announced on Tuesday.

The ACMs will air live in the US on Sunday on CBS.

Other winners include the film Country Strong, which bagged the Tex Ritter Award for use of country music in film.
