The Who to make Hyde Park return

Rock veterans The Who will end their 50th anniversary tour by returning to Hyde Park.

The My Generation singers will headline Hyde Park for the third time next summer, with special guests Paul Weller, Kaiser Chiefs and Johnny Marr.

The performance will mark the end of their 10-date UK tour, which they have described as the start of their "long goodbye".

The Who will headline the Barclaycard British Summer Time event on Friday June 26 next year, while US singer Taylor Swift tops the bill the following day.

Frontman Roger Daltrey, who fractured his eye socket during rehearsals the day before the band were due to go on stage in Hyde Park in 1996, said: "It's always a good gig."

But he added: " I've got memories of doing it with an eye patch, holding my eye in, when we did Quadrophenia. That was a nightmare.

"We had a quarter of a million people coming the next day and I've got a fractured cheekbone. How I ever did that show I'll never know."

The Who also performed in Hyde Park as part of Live 8.

Tickets go on sale on Thursday November 20.
