Tulisa in festival assault probe

Tulisa Contostavlos is at the centre of an assault investigation

Police are investigating claims that X Factor judge and N-Dubz singer Tulisa Contostavlos assaulted a blogger at V Festival.

Celebrity writer Vas Morgan has claimed that the 25-year-old charged towards him in a "drunken and angry state" in a backstage area at the Chelmsford event on August 18.

Tulisa is said to deny the assault but Essex Police are investigating.

A force spokeswoman confirmed that officers have received the allegation of an assault. The attack is alleged to have taken place just after midnight.

She added: "We are making further inquiries."

A representative for Tulisa has issued a statement that said: "Tulisa strongly denies assaulting Mr Morgan; she specifically denies punching Mr Morgan in the eye.

"She has placed this matter in the hands of her lawyers for immediate and appropriate action."
