Bonnie Tyler has revealed she was first asked to do Eurovision in her heyday but she turned it down.
The singer said the BBC approached her in 1983 for the annual song contest, when she was at the top of the charts with her power ballad Total Eclipse Of The Heart.
Bonnie, who will be singing Believe In Me, told The Sun: "I was first asked to do Eurovision by the BBC in 1983. I was in America at the time where I was number one for four weeks so it wasn't the right time.
"But this is the perfect time. The BBC heard Believe In Me and thought it was an incredible opportunity for such a good song. I wasn't expecting such a reaction."
Bonnie is confident she'll do better than last year's British entry, Engelbert Humperdinck, who came second from last.
"I think Engelbert had a bad night. I don't think the song was the best for him. It didn't have any oomph, " the Holding Out For A Hero singer said.
She also told the newspaper that she couldn't get any tickets for her friends or family, saying: "I won't have any support there apart from the BBC!"
