U2's Bono plans to build the biggest bedroom in Ireland

Thursday, 23 October 2008

Bono has unveiled plans for a new master bedroom that is as big as an average semi-detached home.

The 130sqm boudoir, bigger than anything ever seen in Ireland, is complete with his and hers en suites, matching walk-in wardrobes, an adjoining study and a balcony with views of Dublin Bay.

The U2 frontman has applied for the massive bedroom for the palatial Killiney home he shares with wife Ali and their five children.

The couple have applied to Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown County Council to add a completely new second floor to include an en suite master bedroom and his and her wardrobes.

They also want to add a lower ground floor conservatory to their house, Temple Hill, on Vico Road.

The proposed conservatory will be accessed through the kitchen and living room.

Bono, who has applied to the council using his real name, Paul Hewson, is seeking to have a terrace at second-floor level around the full perimeter of the house.

If permission is granted, the changes will make the most of the U2 singer's amazing sea views.

Designed by Colin Jennings Architect, the plans show that the terrace will be accessed through a new en suite master bedroom as well as an adjoining en suite study.

Posted on the council's website, the drawings reveal that the superstar is making provision for considerable wardrobe space.

The new second floor is to take the place of the existing pitched roof.

A decision by the council is due at the end of next month.

The application comes only months after Bono and Ali were granted permission for a small performance studio in the grounds of their home.

The bloke's done more in 1 day for charity than all the jealous people bitching on here combined.

He can do whatever he wants with his money, he's earned it.

His time and work for charity is worth much more than his bank balance.

At least he's doing something, what are you doing?

when people find their " shtick " ( a jewish word meaning their thing ,and in Bono's case music ) which he used to catapult himself into super stardom and lots of money . Being rich doesn't automaticaly make it manditory that now you have to help out everone in the world that is less fortunate than you . That is a matter of the heart . If a man gives a dollar to someone but only has two dollars himself isn't that more giving than a man who gives away a million but has 100 million more. It's Bono's soul , not yours. He knows what he has done . How can we know his personal buisness and how much he has given from his heart and wallet over the years ? Worry about your own souls and what YOU have done for human kind. At the end of the road (and it's comming fast) will you be pleased with the love you shared.Think more of this journey in a cosmic sense. God will tell you what to do if you listen. He is never wrong, and He is the same God that Bono will stand before.
peace

What most of you don't realise is that he's not asking for people's money. Live 8 was to raise awareness, not to ask the public to donate. The amount of money needed to end third world poverty is MUCH more than what he has, which is why he focusses his efforts on getting governments of the world to drop the debt which these poor countries owe (we're talking tens of billions here), and not asking for the public's money.

Bono is a hypocrite... While he campaigns for debt relief and aid, he does not donate his own money to the poor....

But he DOES give his money to the poor people

He bought a couple of Maseratis and a Ferrari or two thereby helping the poor Italians!!!

Sum1 said about him starting the band - well actually it was Larry who started the U2 band and it was the same Larry who gave Bono/Paul an ultimatim before thier last album/tour that he could either be a singer or a politician but not both and if he wanted to be a politician and save the world then the band would get a new singer.

He decided to stick with the singing!!!

Re: Rodney Stewart's comment. What crisis in the construction industry? Haven't you been reading Helen Carson's copy lately? House prices are holding up just fine! Bono is probably doing up his gaffe to sell it on so he can 'downgrade' to one of those flats worth half a mil that they've been pimping on homefinder tv.

This is the 2008 version of the 'famine walls'. In the 19th century, the rich got the poor and destitute to build walls around their estates. Good on Bono for supporting the beleaguered Irish construction worker!

Well for all the negative comments, you can start your own rock band and if you do well then you can build a larger bedroom on your house too.

Why shoudnt he treat himself? He's worked hard and long enough for it! And for those calling him a hypocrite, he has given to the poor what most won't will earn in a lifetime so let him enjoy himself for goodness sake

Wow.. Paul. Does this mean you are going to invite about 200 refugees to come live with you in that massive house. I mean, after all, you have been asking the rest of the world to help the hungry.

Good for you Paul.

Good old Bono, eh? Determined to keep the builders in work despite the collapse of the construction industry in the wake of the credit crunch. He's a real humanitarian.

"...that is as big as an average semi-detached home..." Surely you meant as big as his ego? Or perhaps the lad is just boasting of his manhood. Either way, it's better than spending the money on the poor...

Bono makes me sick, telling the ordinary people of Ireland how to save the world, while he lives a life of obscene wealth. Bono do us a favour and go away.
