Unplugged Gary Lightbody US concerts a solo success
Snow Patrol star Gary Lightbody has begun a series of unplugged concerts at small intimate venues on the West Coast of the USA.
The Bangor rocker kicked off the special project this week with a successful solo acoustic show at the Showbox Sodo Lounge in downtown Seattle.
His fans loved it - and so did Gary.
In a tweet to his 177,000 followers, the Snow Patrol frontman - who describes himself as the 'velour-wearing raconteur' on his profile, said: "Thank you Seattle. What an amazing crowd. A great start to the tour. I had a ball."
Expectations had been high after Friends star Courteney Cox, who is engaged to Snow Patrol's Johnny McDaid, tweeted: "I heard @garysnowpatrol play new @snowpatrolband songs this weekend before his upcoming tour. I was floored!"
Fans uploaded bootleg smartphone clips of Gary's Seattle acoustic set to Facebook fan pages, accompanied by ecstatic comments.
One said of the Seattle performance: "It was beautiful, magical, wonderful!" The Lightbody unplugged tour had its second performance in Portland Oregon's Star Theatre, and continues tomorrow in the Swedish American Hall in San Francisco.
