Will.i.am to join American Idol?

Will.i.am is reportedly being eyed to be a judge on American Idol, alongside Keith Urban.

The Black Eyed Peas frontman, who is a judge on BBC show The Voice, is said to be in the frame to join the 13th series of the US show and is on TV producers' wishlist with returning judge Jennifer Lopez, who previously served as judge for two seasons in 2011 and 2012

A source told The Hollywood Reporter that the Bang Bang singer and Jennifer "are hilarious together".

Keith is set to return to the panel for the upcoming season, while J-Lo is expected to finalise her deal shortly, with Will.i.am still in early talks. Talks with former Idol stars Jennifer Hudson and Adam Lambert fizzled after weeks of "internal debate".

Jennifer and Will.i.am's arrivals would follow the departures of Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Randy Jackson.

The show's new executive producer Per Blankens, who came over from Swedish Idol to take over for longtime executive producers Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick, is "looking for big names" to fill out the panel.
