X Factor won't delay Cole's album

Cheryl Cole has revealed she won't be neglecting her singing career despite signing up for The X Factor.

The former Girls Aloud star is returning to the ITV show after four years, but reassured fans that it won't delay her new album, reported The Daily Mirror.

Discussing what she has been up to since she was dropped from the American version of The X Factor, Cheryl said: "I just took this time and partied and have just been me and normal for the past six months.

"Then I started recording the new album and that's almost done. There's no delay on the album. I've got things in the pipeline."

The 30-year-old's new music is expected to be released this year, although no dates have been announced yet.

The star's return to The X Factor was confirmed this week.

Show boss Simon Cowell posted a message online saying: "It's official. Cheryl is back. Most importantly she is a brilliant judge of talent."
