Album: Los Campesinos!, We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed, (Wichita)

Los Campesinos! don't take too long over anything. 'We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed' comes a mere five months after their debut, and it hurtles along at 200mph.

Their saccharine assault is a hybrid of Helen Love and Bis, with singer Aleks wailing about spite and jealousy in an ultra-fey voice which has you thinking of the Only Ones' Peter Perrett one minute and muttering "God help us if there's a war" the next. Exhilarating in short bursts, but after a whole album you feel like you've eaten an entire bag of Haribo.
