Fatboy slim has eyes on a giant party

Fatboy Slim

Giant’s Park, Dargan Road, Belfast, Saturday May 8

Belfast’s biggest outdoor music venue starts tomorrow with an electronic extravaganza featuring international live acts and the biggest laser show ever to have been staged in Ireland.

Giant’s Park is a former landfill site of Belfast Lough’s North Foreshore, transformed into a 220,000-acre, 20,000-capacity, multi-purpose public space.

Headlining the show is producer, DJ and all-round showman Fatboy Slim, aka Norman Cook and the man responsible for hits including Praise You, Right Here Right Now, Rockafella Skank (Funk Soul Brother) and Weapon of Choice. Speaking of his plans for the show, Slim said: “Fans can expect a huge outdoor dance party with as much visual entertainment as we are allowed. Everything we are allowed to do we will. There’s nothing I can tell Irish crowds about how to behave — just keep on doing exactly what you do.”

Also appearing on the star-studded bill are Canadian DJ/remixer Deadmau5, Radio 1 DJs Zane Lowe and Kissy Sell Out, Sidney Samson, Cagedbaby’s Thomas Gandey and DJ Mog. Shuttle buses will be running to and from the city centre every 30 minutes.

Gates open at 4pm, with music between 5pm-1am. Tickets, priced from £39.95, are on sale now from Ticketmaster and www.plmpromotions.com
