Jessie mesmerises with her singing... and motivational speeches

****

The supremely talented Miss Jessica Cornish – aka Jessie J – kicked off her Alive tour in Belfast last night with a mesmerising performance.

The sell-out crowd of more than 9,000 at the Odyssey Arena, on the opening night of the young star's first arena tour, roared with appreciation when the singing glamazon took to the stage, dressed in a flowing white gown.

A Brit school graduate, Jessie (25) has come a long way since opening for Girls Aloud on their 2008 Tangled tour.

She spoke of the Belfast gig representing a huge milestone in her relatively short career.

With two hit albums – Who You Are and Alive – under her belt, Jessie has also been a coach on two series of The Voice UK while building up a global following of 'heartbeats' – what she calls her millions of fans worldwide.

She opened last night's energetic show, with tracks including Thunder, Breathe, Sexy Lady and then Domino.

Numerous costume changes, colourful lasers and even some stage fire added to the drama.

Always keen to provide a positive role model, there were lots of mini motivational speeches and words of encouragement and no evidence of any sleazy Miley Cyrus-type antics.

Jessie was to perform in Belfast on St Patrick's Day but rescheduled so she could concentrate on her new album.

A class act – who was more than worth the wait.

Aquarius:

Trust your instincts regarding moneymaking offers. If a job seems too good to be true, it probably is. Working as part of a campaigning team will suit you down to the ground. You're more motivated to help people than turn big profits. Some friends will discourage you from entering such a field, fearing it won't be lucrative. Don't worry. You'll make a very good salary by doing what you love. Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to be miserable to earn a good living.More
