The Answer

One of the most anticipated gigs of the year takes place at the Mandela Hall at Queen's next Monday, with all-conquering local heroes The Answer returning to native soil after what has been an incredible year for the hard-rocking quartet from Newcastle, Co Down.

Recently returned from the US, which saw the lads in the support slot for the mighty AC/DC's Black Ice Tour, and the release of their second LP Everyday Demons in February, which topped the rock album charts, the Belfast date has been slotted into a packed schedule of continuing support slots across the UK and Europe, as well as some headlining shows in France and the USA, culminating at the end of June with an appearance alongside AC/DC at Dublin's Punchestown Racetrack.

The Answer's frontman Cormac Neeson sees some similarities between his band and their veteran Aussie counterparts: “Where we're at now is a lot like where bands in the 1970s such as AC/DC were when they released their first few albums — we've had a similarly steady momentum and hopefully we can build on it, just like they did”.

Support comes from In Case of Fire and General Fiasco. Tickets, £11, from 0870 243 4455.
