Slick show has crowd in the pink
There was a packed house for the opening night of Belfast Theatre Works' debut production, Grease.
The original High School musical charting the ups and downs of 1950s teen love and lust got off to a great start with an energetic group performance of Grease Is The Word.
Danny and Sandy gave some impressive vocal performances and those taking on the roles of the Pink Ladies and the T-Birds did a great job, with the young actor playing lovable eejit Doody standing out.
Highlights of the first half of the show included Rump and Jan's duet on a song about mooning, and the Pink Ladies singing into their hairbrushes on Freddy My Love.
The success of Grease, made world famous by the 1978 film starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton John, is that everyone can identify with Danny and Sandy's rollercoaster relationship woes and that it's also chock-full of catchy songs such as You're The One That I Want and Greased Lightnin' helps too.
The only major flaw last night was the poor quality seating in the venue.
Check out the show before the run finishes on Saturday night.
