Tina shows Irish fans she’s still The Best
Tina Turner, The O2, Dublin
Friday, 27 March 2009
Tina Turner returned to Ireland in triumph last night for the first of four sold out gigs at the massive new 02 venue in Dublin as part of the European leg of her Tina!: 50th Anniversary Tour.
This surprise emergence from semi-retirement after an eight year break from live performances follows a successful appearance with Beyonce at last year’s Grammy Awards ? and the long wait for her return to the stage to celebrate 50 years in the music business was well worth it.
Despite recovering from a dose of respiratory flu last week, the 69- year-old singer lost no time in proving yet again that she is still the undisputed Queen Of Rock’n’Roll.
The eight-time Grammy Award winner’s two-hour show features all the hits from her long career. It also boasts an amazing seven-member band, hot choreography from Turner and her dancers, multiple costume changes plus top technology, effects and pyrotechnics to ensure that this entertainment-filled spectacular — which hit the road last October for an exhausting 90 dates — is as polished as ever.
Filled with over 20 wall-to-wall hits, this extravaganza is full of Turner’s musical highlights, but a Rolling Stones medley and the show-stopping finale with Turner singing over the heads of the audience must still make her one of music’s hottest and most energetic performers ? Never mind Proud Mary, this lady should be one Proud Tina, for What’s Age Got To Do With It anyway?
Tina Turner is back at the O2 this evening and again on April 11 & 12.

I am so glad she has gotten better...I have had the privilege of seeing Tina over and over again since 1985 and for this tour I have been to Chicago, Dallas, Houston Philly & New York and she blew me away each and every time still ! I am posting this because I am actually going all the way to Dublin to see this show on the 11th & 12th of April and I am excited all over again ! She has a raw energy that shows and never tires and ensures that she gives all her best to the audience at each and every show...the so called performers now should definitely take note and think about how they will be when they are 70...which will most likely not happen. Yes we have icons such as Aretha, Gladys, Patti...but not one of them can energize the audience like Tina can...she keeps you on your feet for the entire two plus hours ! KEEP ROCKIN' TINA !!!

I saw Tina at the O2 in London on March 7th. I have had the privilage of seeing this icon over a dozen times previously and let me tell you Ms Turner still motors at full throttle. She writhed, stomped. strutted and sang like it was 1984. For any of you that has the much sought after tickets and have yet to witness this force of nature, hold on tight and enjoy. You are in for a treat that no other performer, male or female, can come close to replicate. Madonna and Britney, take note. There's no miming here. And for the other wannabe's - maybe in another lifetime ! This lady is a one off and we are so lucky that she, in her 70th year, has decided to honour us with her presence once more. Roll on Easter in Dublin when I get the chance to witness this amazing woman one more time.

Very happy to hear that Tina is back at it and giving all of you a great show. She is simply The Best!!! I had the privilege to see the Queen of Rock in Minneapolis, Minnesota last October 2008.
Tina: Take care of yourself. Your fans have so much love, admiration and respect for you. And to anyone in the entertainment business, this is how it is done. And for those of you that are waiting to see her, have fun. Thank you.
