Adam Lambert has thanked the remaining members of Queen for being "class acts" who haven't "intimidated" him.
The American singer is joining the British rock band for a series of shows across Europe, where he will be the frontman in place of the late Freddie Mercury.
Adam is thrilled to be performing with the iconic group and admits it was initially a nerve-wracking prospect.
"It's such a great challenge, I'm so excited. We've been rehearsing for the last few weeks and it's actually surprisingly comfortable. It could have been a very intimidating situation but Brian May and Roger Taylor are total class acts, very down to earth and we're having a good time playing great music," he said.
"No, I'm not going to be Freddie Mercury. Freddie Mercury is one of a kind, there is no chance of even trying. I'm just there to sing the music he helped create, pay respect and bring it to life."
While Queen are known for their guitar-heavy rock tunes, Adam's signature style of music is more dance led. He's excited about bringing the two genres together.
"One of the exciting things about fronting Queen next month is that we're crashing two worlds together. I love the music of Queen and classic rock but right now I'm creating music that is a little more dance/pop hopefully with a rock 'n' roll spirit as long as I'm getting the green light from Queen I'm doing something right," he laughed to BBC Breakfast.
