Adam Thomas quits Emmerdale after eight years - report
Adam Thomas is hoping to fulfil his dream of hosting his own show, according to The Sun.
Adam Thomas has reportedly quit Emmerdale after eight years on the soap.
The 28-year-old actor has won himself legions of fans through his portrayal of Adam Barton in the ITV show. But now The Sun reports Adam is keen to move on to new pastures, and has decided to leave the Dales in the hope of achieving his dream of hosting his own show.
"Adam’s had a great time but he’s spent eight years in the Dales and thinks the time is right," a source told the newspaper.
Adam is the fourth big name to leave the show in the last 12 months - following Kelvin Fletcher, Gemma Atkinson and Bill Ward.
It is thought his success on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, which saw him come runner-up to winner Scarlett Moffatt, was another motivator for his departure, but bosses are said to be less than happy with his decision to quit.
“It’s a headache for bosses as he’s a recognisable face, especially after I’m A Celebrity," the source added.
According to The Sun, Adam will be written out of Emmerdale in late 2017. His exit storyline has yet to be revealed, and it's unknown whether he will be killed off or given the option of returning in the future if he wishes.
Adam hasn't commented on The Sun's report on his social media pages. But while his departure has yet to be officially confirmed, Emmerdale fans took to Twitter in their droves to comment on the rumours.
"Dear @emmerdale i unserstand that adam thomas is leaving the show but please. I am begging you please do not kill him off," one wrote, before another added, "if adam is actually leaving then I am 1000 per cent done . @emmerdale why u gotta do this (sic)".
