Adele: My throat popped
Adele says she knew something was terribly wrong when "something popped" in her throat.
The Grammy Award nominee has opened up in her first post-surgery interview about her recent operation.
The Rolling in the Deep singer told Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes about the day that her voice simply "went."
"It felt like someone put a curtain over my throat," the 23-year-old singer said of her performance on French radio when the incident happened. "It felt like something popped in my throat."
"I had laser surgery. [They] put lasers down your throat, cut off the polyp, and kind of laser your hemorrhage back together and fix it."
The British starlet said that she could not speak for a long time afterwards so had to write messages on paper or through a digital method.
"I had an application on my phone that you type the words into it and then it speaks," she shared.
"But the great thing is I love to swear. Most of [the apps] you can't swear on, but I found this one app where you can swear, so I'm still really getting my point across."
Adele was seen recuperating from the surgery on a vacation in Florida with new boyfriend Simon Konecki.
The hitmaker is set to perform for the first time at this Sunday's Grammy Awards where she is up for six prizes.
But Adele says that she is cautious about pushing her vocals too far as she is scared of hurting her voice.
"If I decide to go on a 200-date world tour, it would happen again,' she said.
Meanwhile, Adele has it back at Karl Lagerfeld after he said that she was "too fat."
"I've never wanted to look like models on the cover of magazines," she told People. "I represent the majority of women and I'm very proud of that."
