Adele pregnant with first child

Adele says she is "delighted" to announce she is expecting a baby.

The 24-year-old British singer and her boyfriend Simon Konecki have been dating for a year after meeting last summer.

In a statement on her website today, the Rolling In The Deep star shared her happy news.

"I'm delighted to announce that Simon and I are expecting our first child together," she wrote.

"I wanted you to hear the news direct from me, obviously we're over the moon and very excited but please respect our privacy at this precious time. Yours always, Adele xx."

There had been reports that Adele wanted to be pregnant by the end of the year and was excited to start a family after finally finding love again.

"[Adele] told Simon how broody she's been feeling," a source told Daily Star earlier this year. "The pair have spoken about children and it's something they both very much want in the future. Simon already has a five-year-old daughter from his previous marriage with Clary, who Adele has met and absolutely adores."
