Adlington 'scared of jungle swim'

Rebecca Adlington is one of the contestants on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! this year

Former Olympic swimming champion Rebecca Adlington has admitted she is terrified of getting into the water in the new series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here.

The athlete, who won two gold medals at the Beijing Games in 2008 and is the world record holder in the 800m freestyle, said she did not want to swim in the jungle.

She said: "I don't mind swimming in the pool because I can see the bottom, there's a nice line there that's clear but swimming in anything where I can't see, that's dark, I just don't know what's underneath me, that is just terrifying."

Rebecca, who grew up in Mansfield, also said she was worried about sharing the jungle with fellow contestants who were "lazy" or "a little bit diva or showbiz".

ITV viewers will see her enter the jungle on Sunday with nine other contestants including talk show host Matthew Wright, reality star Joey Essex, snooker player Steve Davis and model Amy Willerton.
