Agyness Deyn has confessed she is really 29, six years older than she had claimed to be.
The model, singer and actress told the Guardian she began modelling when she was 18, which was quite a late start, so she lied to make herself seem younger.
Agyness said: "When I decided I would really do modelling I was like 18, and I think at the time that was quite old for a new face, so we knocked off a few years."
The lie backfired when her former classmates set up a Facebook group in 2007 called "Agyness Deyn You're Not 18".
The group declared: "This group is for all those who realise that supermodel Agyness Deyn, AKA Laura Hollins, is not 18, or 21 or any of the other ages she claims to be. We know people who went to school with her and will verify she is 24."
Her designer friend Henry Holland also lost track.
Agyness said: "It was my birthday last week, and Henry was saying how old would you have been? Cos it got really complicated - when personal and work collide - and Henry was like: 'But it looks like I started being friends with you when you were four or something!'."
Talking about changing her name from Laura Hollins, Agyness said: "I started modelling, and they said there are loads of Lauras - you can change your name. I was like, OK, and then I thought about it and said OK, I'll be called Agnes; my grandmother was called Agnes."
